COVID-19: two Maldivians quarantined after arriving from China

They will complete 14 days in quarantine

Neither of the two Maldivians have shown symptoms

Two Maldivians have been quarantined after their return from China, mainland of the fast-spreading deadly Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The action was taken under the global protocol being followed after recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) since the epidemic has been spreading fast outside of China as well.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that two Maldivians have been quarantined, however, neither of them have shown symptoms thus far.

However, they will be quarantined for a period of 14-days as mandated under the protocol being followed as a safeguard against the COVID-19.

Both Maldivians are currently at the isolation facility in Farukolhufushi island, sources have reported.

Further, the ministry will be sharing all relevant details regarding the fatal infection as they come.

Although no positive cases have emerged in the Maldives thus far, the disease, which surfaced in Wuhan City of Hubei Province in China, is not even close to being controlled in the mainland. Maldivians residing in Wuhan City were recently brought back, seven of whom were quarantined in Delhi, India before their return to Maldives.

Thus far, the virus has taken over 2,700 lives in China alone, up until Sunday. A total of 80,000 cases were discovered globally and the death toll has reached 2,700, with most cases emerging from Asian countries.
