Passengers on three cruise ships screened for coronavirus
While passengers on two of the ships were screened for the deadly virus last week, a third one was screened on the 20th of this month

Passengers on three cruise ships docked near the capital city, have been screened for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

While passengers on two of the ships were screened for the deadly virus last week, a third one was screened on the 20th of this month.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a total of 981 individuals -341 passengers and 643 crew members- were screened from MS Marco Polo. While eight of the passengers are to have had a fever, HPA said none of the passengers aboard Marco Polo had traveled to China in the past 14 days.

The second ship screened was MS Nautica, which was carrying a total of 1,035 individuals- 399 passengers and 635 crew members. Two are to have fever-like symptoms.

The cruise ship tested earlier in the month was MS Costa Victoria. While there were 2,460 individuals aboard the ship, 12 are to have had a fever.

While three cruise ships have been screened here in the Maldives, HPA said that none of the passengers meet the criteria for potential cases of the new coronavirus.
