National Youth Day 2020 will be celebrated outside of the capital city, reveals the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment.

According to the Ministry, engaging Maldivian youth from all across the country is one of the main objectives of celebrating National Youth Day, hence, the day will be marked outside of the capital city this year.

As such, the ministry stated that islands interested in holding the youth day celebrations are requested to submit proposals to the front desk of the Social Centre. The ministry further appealed for interested parties to visit the Social Centre on March 10th at 11:00 am for further clarification on the proposal's requirements.

The official ceremony and activities planned for national youth day will be held at the island which presents the best proposal, said the ministry, adding that the deadline to submit proposals ends on April 30th.

Proposals can also be submitted via e-mail as well.

While the day has been marked on different dates in the past, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared 22 October as the National Youth Day last year.
