The Information Commissioner's Office has signed an agreement to collaborate with Transparency Maldives.
The agreement was signed during a special ceremony at the Information Commissioner's Office on Tuesday by the Information Commissioner, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and the Advocacy and Communications Manager of Transparency Maldives, Aiman Rasheed Ibrahim.
Speaking during the ceremony, Information Commissioner Fiyaz stated that the agreement opens new avenues for the field of communications and highlighted that Transparency Maldives has always been very co-operative with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Fiyaz further highlighted the commendable work done by Transparency Maldives to make information sharing more accessible and enforce accountability in government, adding that the organisation has consistently shared ideas and recommendations with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Likewise, Aiman of Transparency Maldives reiterated the organisation's appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the Information Commissioner's Office and achieve mutual goals of transparency in government and accessible information sharing.
Aiman further noted that information exchange with government bodies and state institutions have become more efficient since Information Commissioner Fiyaz assumed office. Nevertheless, he stated that there is much more work to tackle corruption and establish a more transparent government.
