11 employees to be sacked from Transport Authority
Both senior and junior employees were included
The termination will be carried out as mandated in the Civil Service Act
Resignation opportunity has been given to employees before terminating them

11 employees are to be sacked from the Maldives Transport Authority.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an employee at the authority revealed that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) notified the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of their decision to terminate 11 employees.

However, all 11 employees have been given the opportunity to hand in their resignations before they are terminated, before 10am on Wednesday.

Some local media outlets cited Permanent Secretary at the Transport Ministry, Abdulla Fayaz having stated that the employees include both senior and junior employees.

They are being sacked due to poor attendance and low performance, revealed Fayaz.

This comes at a time a petition has been forwarded to the People’s Majlis and the President’s Office due to the “unfair” termination of several civil service employees.

This led to a meeting where senior officials of the Transport Ministry were summoned for questioning by the Government Oversight Committee.

Transport Authority has since assured the public that they carry out the process of termination according to the set mandate.
