Staff members at government offices have raised concern over their presiding officials’ work ethics. 

A senior ministerial official, under the condition of anonymity, told RaajjeMV that coordinators and other senior staff often end their work for the day after simply signing in. 

The source further said that this has caused growing discontent within staff at the offices. 

Another source told RaajjeMV that many of these senior staff are preoccupied at their private businesses during work hours, and that there are people holding senior positions that are ‘never seen in office’. 

This source said that those that are not preoccupied at their own businesses are disposed at work assigned by ‘a particular influential woman’. 

A number of other civil employees have also said,  under the condition of anonymity at the fear of losing employment, that many of their immediate superiors ‘show up in shorts and a t-shirt just to sign themselves present for the workday’. 

President Abdulla Yameen’s administration has hired an unprecedented number of coordinators and assigned them to different government institutions.
