Ambassador-Designate of Greece makes first call on to the President
 
Discussions between the president and the ambassador touched on mutual areas of concern such as climate change and its effects on the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.
 
The President welcomed Ambassador-Designate of Greece, Mr Dionyssios Kyvetos while expressing hope for continued bilateral relations between the two countries.
 
The call was held at the President’s Office on Sunday morning

The Ambassador-Designate of Greece, Mr Dionyssios Kyvetos, has made his first call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

During the ceremony at the President’s Office on Sunday morning, the President welcomed the ambassador while expressing hope for continued bilateral relations between the two countries.

The ambassador reiterated this sentiment, stating that his appointment as Ambassador to the Maldives is an honour and privilege.

Discussions between the president and the ambassador touched on mutual areas of concern such as climate change and its effects on the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

The ambassador also highlighted the Government’s strategic action plan and commended the country's initiatives.

Bringing attention to tourism, the Maldives' largest industry, President Solih expressed the administrations' interest in avenues to increase tourist arrivals from Greece. The president also appealed for the Greek government’s support to reduce tariffs by European Union nations on Maldivian fish exports.

As such, the ambassador resounded his commitment to furthering bilateral ties between Maldives and Greece while ensuring his full support.
