The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with the development of the harbor in Meedhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.

Contracted on a design and build basis, the agreement was signed during a special ceremony at the ministry building on Tuesday.

The contract was signed by Director General Fathmath Shana Farooq signed on behalf of the ministry while COO of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa, signed on behalf of MTCC.

While it was contracted for a cost of MVR 36,823,998.26, it is to be completed in 408 days.

Some of the work to be completed under the project is the installation of 13 harbor lights, building a 35-meter revetment, 294-meter inner quay wall, installation of two navigational lights, one ramp and 10 mooring blocks as well as a 1,470 square meter pavement among dredging.

Dh Meedhoo’s population reaches about 1,410.
