The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment has introduced "Youth Awards".
The award was officially introduced by Vice-President Faisal Naseem at a special ceremony held on Wednesday night at Dharubaaruge to celebrate the achievements of the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment, last year.
According to the ministry, the objective of the award is to recognise the contributions by youth to education, community empowerment, and civic, at a national level.
In addition to the Youth Awards, the ministry also launched a "Sports Award" and a "Civil Society" award.
The "Sports Award", officiated by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof aims to acknowledge contributions to develop the sports industry, encourage sports achievements, and promote healthy lifestyles.
As such, the purpose of the "Civil Society" award is to recognise volunteer community service work and efforts for national development undertaken by registered NGO's. This award was officiated by the Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail.
The ministry further revealed that these three awards will be conferred annually.
