Police rescues tourist caught in current

A tourist caught in a rip current near Felidhoo island of Vaavu atoll has been rescued.

Maldives Police Service revealed that the authorities received the report around 11:40 pm on Tuesday morning when an Italian tourist reportedly ran into the police station crying and declared that her husband was caught in a rip current.

The authorities state that Felidhoo police immediately dispatched personnel to rescue the tourist and brought him back to shore. They further disclosed that the rescued man is in stable condition.

While the local guesthouse industry has been thriving in Vaavu atoll, the industry is currently in the peak season for tourism.
