Murthala was arrested under a court order on Saturday after he made death threats against the judge

The man arrested for death threat made against High Court Chief Judge Shujau Usman has been released.

According to a media official from the police, the man was released by the Huraa Magistrate Court after agreeing to certain conditions.

These conditions have not been disclosed.

Ali Murthala, a 50-year-old native of Maafushi island in Kaafu atoll, was arrested under a court order issued by the Kaashidhoo Magistrate Court on Saturday.

The court order states that Murthala made death threats against the judge at around 5:15 pm on Friday, while the judge was on holiday on the island with his family.

The High Court strongly condemned the death threat target at its chief judge via a statement released shortly after it came into the spotlight. The statement further reads that such acts intending harm to others is unacceptable and urged the authorities to ensure strict action is taken to hold those responsible, accountable.
