First round of Bilateral Political Consultations held between Maldives and Egypt

It was held in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of establishing diplomatic relations between both countries

The first round of Bilateral Political Consultations has been held between the government of Maldives and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Held in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of establishing diplomatic relations between both countries on Thursday, the official consultations were led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of Egypt, Dr. Hany Selim.

Both ministers reviewed the ongoing cooperation between Maldives and Egypt and went on to discuss methods through which the brotherly ties in various sectors may be enhanced.

Further, deliberations focused on enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, education, investment, culture, tourism, fisheries and agriculture, health, energy and information technology as well as maritime transport.

Discussions also revolved around key thematic areas including combating transnational crimes, countering terrorism and radicalization, climate change, environmental protection, and strengthening regional cooperation among several important issues.

The Maldivian delegation includes Ambassador of Maldives to United Arab Emirates Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Shiaan and Desk Officer of the Foreign Ministry Aminath Naufa Rushdi.
