The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has suspended popular local football team, Victory Sports Club.

While FAM has not officially announced the suspension, some media reports cite a FAM official confirming that the club has been suspended. These reports have surfaced at a time when FAM has issued multiple warnings to the sports club.

In the past, FAM has issued warnings in regard to the team's failure to attend a match in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League, and for lacking the proper documentation needed for the club's licensing. Moreover, another warning was issued following a complaint submitted to FAM accusing the club of failing to regularly pay the salaries of its team players and coaches.

According to the statement released by FAM in regard to the salary issue, the club has been instructed to pay off the entirety of the debt to the coaches and players by December 15th. Furthermore, the announcement states that if the club fails to comply with the instruction, FAM's executive committee has the authority to suspend Victory Sports Club from all football events or related activities for violating article 35(3) and article 37(1) of the association's rules and regulations.

Moreover, while addressing the club's failure to attend a match of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League, the statement instructed the club to halt transfers as per article 9 of FAM's disciplinary code. Additionally, FAM declared that the club will be disqualified from the league as per article 9(e) of the association's disciplinary code, if they fail to show up for the match scheduled for December 13th.

In response, the club's chairman claimed that the club is unable to pay the salaries of its members due to the club's current financial condition.
