Fuvahmulah City has been flooded due to the heavy showers experienced all around the country and has caused issues in the island's sewerage system.
Speaking to a reporter from RaajjeMV, the mayor of Fuvahmulah City, Abdulla Falah Shareef, stated that the city's residents are currently facing many difficulties due to sewerage issues caused by flooding.
Many households are unable to use their toilets due to the flooding, said Falah.
He stated that sewerage issues are commonplace during heavy showers however sewerage problems have extremely worsened in comparison to the past.
Falah revealed that Fenaka Corporation Limited, who is in charge of supervising the city's solid system, was informed of the issue but no solution has been offered yet.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and the Disaster Management Centre have been active in cleaning up the flood in the city.
Falah further disclosed that several households have suffered flood damage, with a number of household appliances destroyed.
