The state budget for 2019 allocated MVR 10 million for the development of a hospital in Velidhoo
Velidhoo MP proposed to question the minister, as work on the project is yet to begin

Once the required authorization is received, work will commence on the halted hospital development project in Velidhoo island of Noonu atoll, revealed Minister of Health, Abdulla Ameen.

Upon being summoned for questioning at Tuesday’s People’s Majlis sitting, Minister Ameen was questioned on the delay in progress of the hospital development project in Velidhoo island, which has been at a standstill since it was placed under the scope of the state budget for 2019.

The constituency’s parliamentarian, Mohamed Abdulla Shafeeq proposed to question the minister, on Monday.

In response, Ameen stated that the blueprints and design for the hospital have been completed along with the Bill of Quantities (BoQ). He added that the only thing pending is authorization from the relevant authorities.

Further, Ameen stated that additional consultancy is needed regarding the building design, as it is of a medical facility.

Highlighting that the funds allocated under the state budget for 2019 were not sufficient enough to complete the construction of the hospital in Velidhoo, Ameen expressed hope to commence work on the hospital development project, within the ongoing last quarter of the year.
