The Ministry of Health has launched the National Conference on Revitalising Public Health today.
The conference was inaugurated by the Vice President, Faisal Naseem at Paradise Island Resort. It is to conclude on November 6.
The conference focuses on five key topics and aims to address public health issues in the Maldives such as nutrition and lifestyle changes, environment-related health concerns, and monitoring contagious diseases.
According to the health ministry, discussions during the conference will touch on the plans and projects in partnership with stakeholders in the public health industry as well as strengthening ties with said stakeholders.
Additionally, areas to increase funding and development of human resources will also be discussed.
The ministry has disclosed that the conference will be attended by local as well as international experts.
The three-day conference also features the ministry's action plan to achieve the pledges defined in the current administrations Strategic Action Plan 2019-2023 (SAP) for the health sector. Furthermore, a public health chart will be signed by stakeholders as a sign of commitment to achieving these pledges.
Relevant ministries, health professionals, universities, health organisations, and independent parties will also be participating in the conference.
