The attorney general has forwarded the Transitional Justice Bill to the President's Office.
The bill seeks to investigate acts of corruption and systematic violation of human rights that occurred between January 1st, 2012 and 17th November 2018 and create regulations that will bring justice to the victims of those acts.
In a press statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the Attorney General’s office disclosed that the bill has been forwarded to the president's office.
The legislation proposes to establish an Ombudsman office to carry out the following seven objectives:
The legislation will be approved after the president's office presents the bill to the parliament, who will then debate and vote on the bill after further review.
