First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the fundraising dinner event, an annual initiative of the Cancer Society of Maldives.

The Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner 2019 was hosted at Hotel Jen’s ballroom on Friday evening.

During the fundraiser, First Lady Fazna signed a petition calling for a ban on public smoking and launched a special book targeted for the caretakers of cancer patients.

The caretaker of a cancer patient had conveyed “untold stories” of their struggle in assisting their loved ones through the ailment, with poetry, revealed the President’s Office.

Special awards titled “Let your love light up a life” were also presented to five individuals for their “remarkable contributions”

Further, a video presentation featuring success stories linked to the cancer support group was also shown at the fundraiser.

The Gala Dinner aims to raise funds needed to conduct cancer screenings, diagnoses and screening to advocate healthier lifestyles and raise awareness on early detection, every year.
