Ministry tasks companies with several development projects
 
Companies were tasked with land reclamation, establishing water and sewerage systems as well as designing and compiling Environment Impact Assessment reports

The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has tasked companies with several development projects across outlying atolls.

At a signing ceremony on Tuesday, the ministry signed with Azrova Maldives Private Limited to carry out water and sewerage system installation in Angolhitheem island of Raa atoll and Kurinbi island of Haa Dhaal atoll.

The water and sewerage systems installation in these two islands are predicted to cost MVR 19 million.

Further, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was tasked with land reclamation, design and compiling an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report in Bodufulhadhu and Ukulhas in Alif Alif atoll, Hirilandhoo in Thaa atoll and Maavah in Laamu atoll.

Water Solutions was tasked with the compilation of EIAs for reclamation of land and design projects in Magoodhoo and Feeali in Faafu atoll and Maa’enboodhoo island in Dhaalu atoll.

The ministry also tasked Maldives Engineering and Environment Company with preparing EIAs, designing and land reclamation in Dhaandhoo, Gaaf Alif atoll, Madaveli in Gaaf Dhaal atoll and Maradhoo as well as Maradhoo Feydhoo in Seenu atoll.

Maldives Engineering and Envrionment Company was contracted with the project for a total of MVR 792,880.

These projects have been tasked at a time the opposition has been voicing their concern over the government’s “slow-paced progress”. The administration has thus far since its inauguration in November 2018, begun development projects worth over MVR 17 million across the entire nation.
