Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid is scheduled to embark on his first visit to Beijing, China, in September, since assuming office.
During a courtesy call paid on him by Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Zhang Lizhong on Thursday, FM Shahid discussed his visit with the Chinese Ambassador.
Some of the discussions included preparations and important matters for discussion during the minister’s visit.
FM Shahid highlighted that the visit will be an important milestone for the relationship between Maldives and China. It is expected to further enhance the bilateral ties between both countries.
Views were exchanged on progress of ongoing projects between the two countries, as well as future cooperation in areas of mutual concern. One of the projects include the renovation of the Foreign Ministry building located in the outlying road of capital city Malé.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, and Assistant Director Mariyam Bassama Farooq.
