Transport Authority has stated that it is the captain’s responsibility to safeguard passengers and make sure they wear the life jackets.

In a press statement, Transport Authority stated that it is always dangerous to travel at sea during times of high winds and heavy rain and that safety needs to be guaranteed.

At a time when authorities have warned against sea travel due to the worsening weather, Transport Authority stated that it is the responsibility of the captain to make the passengers wear the life jacket.

Transport Authority stated that the owners and captains of passenger crafts should check whether the allowed number of passengers are on board, instruct them to put on the life jackets, and check the condition of the safety equipment and rations on the vessels.

The Authority also stated that the boat captain should check the latest weather updates before disembarking.
