Mohamed Nizar has resigned from the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).

The PCB president announced his resignation via Twitter on Tuesday, with a photo of a striped blue tie attached, after over five years of service at the board.

Noting that he was at the Privatization and Corporatization Board for five years and 26 days, Nizar also highlighted that he had served the nation for a total of 34 years.

He also thanked “all the government” and the PCB board members and others that worked to bring the Privatization and Corporatization Board “to this level.”

Nizar was appointed as PCB president during former President Abdulla Yameen’s tenure, in January 2014.

The Privatization and Corporatization Board was created under clause 3(a) of the law that privatizes, monitor and evaluate public companies. It comprises of seven members.
