The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said that it will be investigating 251 of the 259 complaints registered there during the second quarter of the year.

It had investigated 110 complaints during the same period last year, out of the 124 complaints filed.

ACC said that it received a total of 546 cases in the first six months of 2019.

The anti-corruption watchdog said that some of the cases filed are not within their mandate, and that such cases are forwarded to the relevant institutions.

As such, it is to have transferred 18 cases during the second quarter of this year. Eight cases were transferred in 2018.

Furthermore, ACC said that it will not be investigating 44 of the 259 cases filed this year due to incomplete forms. The commission had dismissed 16 cases in the same period last year.

It also revealed that the highest number of complaints were regarding procurement issues. ACC received 94 such cases in the second quarter of 2019, while 44 cases were registered last year.

In addition, it received 51 cases related to employment, 36 more than last year.
