The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is seeking to impeach the Family Court Chief Judge Hassan Saeed and Mohamned Raghib, the Chief Magistrate at the Kaafu atoll judicial division.

JSC launched an investigation into the complaints filed against Saeed in July, and JSC on Wednesday announced that its probe proves the allegations against him.

This includes a sexual harassment allegation; which Saeed is to have asked the court not to investigate. JSC’s investigation also proved that he had been conducting other business at the court.

The family court chief judge was previously suspended, in 2016, for his behavior after the court’s registrar testified against him.

In addition, JSC has also concluded the investigation against Magistrate Raghib and will be seeking to impeach him as well.

However, they have first been given the required 30 days to respond to the case findings.

While only the People’s Majlis can dismiss judges, it depends on JSC’s recommendations.
