Deputy Minister arrested for threatening Judge Shujau

Deputy Minister at Education Ministry Ibrahim Haneef has been arrested for threatening High Court Judge Shujau Usman.
Police media official had confirmed that such a case was under investigation but had not revealed any additional details. The official had neither confirmed nor denied that an arrest was made.
Both Judge Shujau and Haneef hail from the island of Vilingili in Gaaf Alif atoll. Haneef is a close associate of Vilingili Constituency MP Saud Hussain.
RaajjeMV understands that Haneef was arrested on the statement of a ruling Progressive Party of Maldives activist.
He was arrested Tuesday from his home. He was summoned to the police prior to his arrest and his phone was confiscated.
No additional details of the case or the nature of the threat is clear at the time.
