Police have arrested nine Maldivians for allegedly attempting to commit assault in Villimale’.
They were arrested as part of a police operation to stop gang crime in Villimale’.
The police service stated that the men aged 18 to 22 were arrested on Wednesday night under a court order for allegedly creating fear in the Villimale’ community.
The police stated that, as part of their operation to make Villimale’ a peaceful area, they will search areas in which groups gather and disturb the residents.
The Villimale’ operation is being carried out with the participation of the Villimale’ police station, police intelligence, and special operations department.
