President’s Office has on Thursday begun accepting nominations for the President’s National Award for Special Achievement.

The office, via a press release, said that those that wish to nominate a candidate for one of the three categories recognized this year are to send in the nominations before August 15. Nomination forms will be available at the President’s Office during official working hours or for download on the President’s Office’s website

“One important change from previous years is that in determining qualifications levels, the committee will defer to the grading categories defined by the relevant institutions from which the individuals received their certificates”
President's Office

Noting that winners from the first category “will be individuals who have performed exceptionally well in the field of higher education and training,” the President’s Office said that these awards will be given to those “who have completed education certificates equivalent to MQA ranking levels of 7,8,9 and 10 with a grade point of 85% or higher, or completed a research topic or dissertation with exceptional distinction.”

Individuals who did “exceptionally well or achieved the highest rank in an international competition or exhibition” will be awarded under the second category, while the third prize category pertains “to individuals have created effective solutions to pressing national issues through their innovation and research.”

The National Awards Council is to hold an information session, and those that wish to participate can do so through the President’s Office.
