Aminiya School Principal’s dismissal unlawful: High Court

The High Court has ruled that former Aminiya School Principal Athiya Naseer’s dismissal was unlawful.

The High Court issued the ruling over the lawsuit Athiya filed against Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The court stated that her dismissal was against CSC regulations and ordered her to receive six month’s salary, which is MVR 155,000, as compensation.

Ahiya was dismissed as Aminiya School principal without warning on April 13, 2015, and the Civil Court that year ruled that her dismissal was lawful.

CSC stated that Athiya’s administration was damaging the school and that she was dismissed to prevent further damages, as per a a letter sent to the commission by the education ministry.

Athiya began working in the education sector as a teacher in 1995 and had worked in all levels of the school administration.
