Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has launched a probe against High Court Judge Hassan Ali and Civil Court Chief Judge Abdulla Ali.

While this was revealed via a statement on Wednesday, JSC said that it is also investigating Laamu Dhanbidhoo Court’s Chief Magistrate Ahmed Shareef.

After deciding to investigate the three, sub-committees were formed to investigate the cases.

As such, the sub-committee investigating the high court judge comprises of JSC vice president Masthooru Husny and members Mohamed Easafulhu and Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath.

Masthooru, AG Riffath and member Abdul Rauf Ibrahim are investigating the complaint filed against the civil court chief justice. Chief Magistrate Shareef’s case is being investigated by Masthooru, Easafulhu and Rauf.

The three judges are among the many being investigated by the Commission; JSC is also investigating complaints against Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Didi, Family Court Chief Judge Hassan Saeed and Criminal Court Judges Hassan Najeeb and Shujau Usman.

In addition, it recently concluded a probe into complaints against three Supreme Court Justices including chief justice.

JSC decided to issue a warning to Chief Justice Chief Justice Ahmed Abdulla Didi and Justices Abdulla Areef and Adam Mohamed Abdulla, for ordering the Civil Court to hand over records related to a closed case, which it noted was a violation of the constitutional rights of the plaintiff.
