Mariyam “Mary” Abdul Kareem has shattered the national record in a 10,000 meter long distance run.
Mary clocked at 42 minutes 44.80 seconds at the race held the ongoing Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2019 on Tuesday.
Despite breaking the national record, she finished last in the heat.
The 10k meter run record was previously held by Mary as well, with a timing of 45 minutes and 36.12 seconds.
She also holds the records for 15-km and 20-km runs.
Mary will also compete in the IOIG 2019 half marathon.
