Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has resigned from the parliament’s committee on state-owned enterprises after a dispute.
MP Jabir resigned after arguing with committee chair, Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb, on Wednesday.
Jabir had gone to the committee after being removed from Wednesday’s sitting by Speaker Mohamed Nasheed for causing a commotion.
At the committee, Jabir behaved in a disruptive manner and accused Labeeb of being unable to fulfill his responsibilities. He left the committee after stating that he has resigned.
Jabir is now the first MP to resign from a committee in the 19th parliament.
