Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested two regarding drug trafficking in Kaashidhoo, Kaafu atoll.

While arrested were two Maldivians aged 27 and 28, one of them have been remanded by three days and the other one has been freed.

Upon receiving an intelligence report that the two were dealing with illegal drug trafficking, officers had conducted an operation on 7 July at a house on the island.

The raid was carried out under a court order and officers had confiscated two rubber packets, a piece of cellophane and two joints.

The 28-year-old who was remanded is to be kept in police custody at a place allocated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Kaashidhoo Police Station has taken on investigations into the case.
