Maldives is ready to host the IOIG: President Ghopal
 
Minister Mahloof said, If won, the bid will allow Maldives to host the best Indian Ocean Island Games in 2023

Ghopal praised the Maldives government and Olympic committee for having a good plan for hosting the games

Indian Ocean Island Games Council (IOIG) President Antonio Ghopal has said that Maldives is ready to host the games.

Speaking at a press conference at the youth ministry on Friday, Ghopal said that their council has visited the Maldives sports sites and the facilities related to organizing the games praised the Maldives government and Olympic committee for having a good plan for hosting the games.

Ghopal said that Maldives has a good plan for overall development of the country with projections for more sports facilities and that his meeting with Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof and Vice President Faisal Naseem shows the government’s enthusiasm for the bid.

He said that Maldives is prepared to host the games and that they are hoping that Maldives receives the bid.

Also at the press conference, Minister Mahloof said that the IOIG council’s visit to Maldives has been a success and that their work to win the bid is being overseen by the President.

If won, the bid will allow Maldives to host the best Indian Ocean Island Games in 2023, he added.
