A robbery has been reported from the council premises in Magoodhoo island, Faafu atoll.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of the break-in half past 3am on Monday and that robbers had broken the door down after tying up the security guard.

Further, they had broken into the council's safe.

Citing the council, police said that although there was less cash inside the safe, they did not reveal an exact amount that was stolen.

Police have since taken on investigations into the robbery.
