"These swell waves are experienced around these days each year"

Some regions in capital city Malé also experienced them during the past few days

Some regions in Maaenboodhoo island of Dhaalu atoll have been heavily flooded due to swell wave surges.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that a team of their central-area officers stationed at the Kudahuvadhoo Fire Station had been dispatched to the island following the reports of flooding.

RaajjeMV understands that although several regions in the island have been heavily flooded due to the swell wave surges, the flood water has thus far not entered any households and neither have there been any reports of injuries to any resident.

While the south west monsoon continues to prevail over the country, different regions of the country have been experiencing swell waves at high tide times, some regions severely.

During the past five days, some islands had experienced severe swells, some regions like the carnival area, Industrial Zone and the “Raalhugandu” area in capital city Malé also experienced them during the past few days.

The National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) revealed that these swell waves are experienced around these days each year and that the Malé City Council is working to take necessary precautions following the threat of severe swells.
