Maldives Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has met Sri Lanka’s Parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

They met at the Sri Lankan parliament speaker’s official residence on Sunday morning.

During the meeting, Speaker Jayasuriya discussed his experience in the Sri Lankan parliament with Speaker Nasheed and his delegation, which consisted of Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla and MPs of the ruling party.

Nasheed and his delegation are on a three-day official visit to assure the international community that Sri Lanka is a safe country to visit despite the Easter attacks.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe had hosted a banquet in the delegation’s honor. The Prime Minister has said that he is thankful for the delegation’s assurance that Sri Lanka is safe and highlighted the close relationship between the two countries.

Nasheed and his delegation is set to conclude their visit and return to Maldives on Sunday night.
