First Couple to exchange greetings with public on Eid-Al-Fitr

It has been in the Maldives culture and tradition to exchange greetings on the morning of Eid

Maldives First Couple is to exchange greetings with the people of Maldives in commemoration of this year’s Eid-Al-Fitr.

A statement by the President’s Office revealed that greetings will be exchanged on the morning of Eid-Al-Fitr on Tuesday from 09:30 to 10:30 at Mulee’aage.

The President’s Office has opened invitation to all Maldivians as well as members of foreign diplomatic missions, international organizations and members of local Non-Governmental Organizations.

While the festive occasion of Eid is an important Islamic festival for the Muslim community, it has been in the Maldives culture and tradition to exchange greetings on the morning of Eid since it embraced Islam. It is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal that follows the fasting month of Ramadan.
