Nasheed praises President for joining OIC summit

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has praised President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for participating in the Organization for Islamic Corporation (OIC) Summit.
The President departed on an official visit to Saudi Arabia to the OIC summit to be held in Mecca.
In a tweet on Friday, Nasheed said that he is happy to see President Solih representing Maldives in the summit, since Muslims need leaders who promote peace, knowledge, and understanding.
The summit is set to gather together heads of states and governments of Muslim-majority countries to discuss some of the pressing issues confronting the global Muslim community, including the prevalence of Islamophobia, regional peace in the Middle East and the various issues and difficulties dealt with by Muslims worldwide.
The President’s Office stated that the summit also affords the Maldives’ delegation the opportunity to positively engage with Saudi Arabia on our bilateral relations and development cooperation.
During his, President Solih will also be performing his Umrah pilgrimage and meeting with senior officials of Saudi Arabia.
