Velidhoo island power cut issue fixed
With the recent addition of a 600-watt generator, the island currently has four generators

The power cut issue in Velidhoo island has been resolved, says council president Asma Hussain.

While the island in Noonu atoll had faced frequent power outages prior to Ramadan, Asma said that the issue was fixed before the holy month began.

With the recent addition of a 600-watt generator, the island currently has four generators.

Asma further said that a system to provide drinking water to households has been installed, and emphasized that they will be able to provide water to all houses “in the near future.”

In addition, the island’s health center has been upgraded to a health post and the council president said that the services “have improved.”

She also revealed plans to develop a hospital on the island.

While there are around 3,000 people registered to Velidhoo island, around 400 people reside there.
