Sri Lanka arrests three more Maldivians

Over 250 people were killed in last week's bombing

Three more Maldivians have been arrested in Sri Lanka.

While Lankan authorities are currently conducting a major search across the country, following a terror attack last week, RaajjeMV understands that the three were arrested after being stopped at a check point around 100km away from the city.

Six Maldivians were apprehended last week as well; four on Thursday and two on Friday.

Four of them, all engineering students were released to a family representative on Monday. A Lankan court had ordered to hand them over to their families, when presented for remand hearing. They were arrested after police found an air rifle during a raid, which they are to have acquired without the required license.

The two arrested on Friday have been remanded until May 10.

Following the series of coordinated attacks on April 21, Sri Lankan authorities have launched a “major search operation,” with President Maithripala Sirisena stating that “every household in the country will be checked” in the operation.

Over 250 people were killed in the attack.
