Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that 56 accidents were reported throughout the previous week alone.
According to traffic statistics publicized by the police on Sunday, 15 individuals were reported injured in relation to the 56 accidents.
While police revealed that they had given 1,082 tickets for parking violations, they had also towed 14 four-wheeled vehicles and 46 motorcycles. They had checked a total of 474 vehicles.

Statistics also show that they had begun investigations into 18 cases of speeding and five cases of under-aged riders.
29 cases were reported of riders using their mobile phones or headsets on the roads and 15 cases were reported of riders without helmets.
Recent days have seen a hike in road accidents across capital city Malé and outlying islands. Police have since appealed on all drivers and riders to take necessary precautions to prevent road accidents.
