Fuvahmulah road development will proceed according to people's wishes: VP
 
The initial agreement was signed on 27 March between MTCC and the Planning Ministry

Fuvahmulah City road development project will be carried out the way the people want, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.

VP Naseem gave the government’s assurance that Fuvahmulah community’s opinions and thoughts will be taken into consideration for the project at the inauguration ceremony of the project on Wednesday.

While the Vice President is native to Fuvahmulah City, the residents and city council have expressed their discontent about the way the government is carrying out the ring road project currently.

As such, the council asserts that it was not made aware of when the Ministry of Planning and Urban Infrastructure had handed over the project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The people were not briefed on the design of the ring road either, revealed the council.

VP Naseem reiterated the government’s commitment to carry out development projects the way the people want. VP Naseem further assured the community that the project is being implemented as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure infrastructural progress reaches the entirety of the nation in accordance with the administration’s “Jazeera Raajje” policy.

While MTCC has been tasked the road development project, the initial agreement was signed on 27 March.

Fuvahmulah City is intended to be a busy urban center which will have higher levels of traffic the overall planning and design of the roads will place a high level of emphasis on road-safety, for both drivers and pedestrians, the President’s Office revealed.

The Government had extensive discussions with the Fuvahmulah community to gauge their priorities and concerns which were in turn merged into the proposed layout and design of the roads.
