Sinamalé Bridge closed for heavy vehicles, this Ramadan

Ramadan, this year, is to begin on May 6th

The Transport Authority, run under the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, has announced a ban on heavy vehicles on the Sinamalé Bridge.

This directive will be in effect starting the upcoming month of Ramadan, and will stand for the duration of it, the Transport Authority says.

The directive states that vehicles can carry cargo over the Sinamalé Bridge, which links the capital city to Hulhulé island and through a highway to Hulhumalé, between 9:00am to 03:00pm, and 01:00am to 06:00am.

No cargo is to be transported on the bridge between 3:00pm and 1:00am during the month of Ramadan.

Ramadan, this year, is to begin on May 6th.
