Maldives Metrology Department has predicted that most of Maldives will have heavy rains for the next five days.

A statement released by the Department on Tuesday stated that heavy rains are expected for most of the country and that predictions show that this year’s Hulhangu season will be an average one.

Central and southern atolls had received the most rain in the past 24 hours, with Gan, Addu recording 77 millimeters of rain over a 24-hour period and 53 millimeters in Gaaf Dhaal Kaadehdhoo.

A yellow alert was in effect for the country on Wednesday morning.

Met Department had cautioned all travelers to be mindful of weather conditions and to take safety precautions when traveling.
