Ex-President Nasheed wins Central Mahchangolhi seat
Independent candidate Ibrahim Mohamed followed behind Nasheed in second place
The other candidates barely received any votes

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has won the Central Mahchangolhi seat.

The interim results show that Nasheed won the most votes in the newly formed constituency.

Nasheed is the leader of MDP, the main ruling party, which had fielded candidates for all 87 seats except one.

Independent candidate Ibrahim Mohamed followed behind Nasheed in second place, with the other three candidates receiving barely any votes.

Nasheed had been the MP for the Male’ constituency for one and a half years after winning the 1999 election.

The interim results show that MDP candidates are winning an overwhelming number of seats.
