The government will contract the development of 60 housing units in Nolhivaranfaru island of Haa Dhaal atoll within the year, revealed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Arriving in Nolhivaranfaru island as part of his ongoing tour across Thiladhunmathi to join campaign events of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidates, President Solih stated that a solution needs to be reached for the housing issues the island community faces. As such, he stated that residents are in need of basic necessities.
Some of them include water and sewerage systems, constructing the island harbor and slashing prices for electricity.
The housing unit development project is estimated to cost MVR 27 million, President Solih revealed.
“There are many development plans for the islands. Citizens will only settle once the basic pledges are fulfilled,” said the President.
President Solih went on to assure the people of his guarantee that he will be able to fulfill his pledges to the people within his five-year tenure.
In order to do so, President Solih highlighted the importance of electing Ahmed Ali, MDP’s candidate for Nolhivaranfaru constituency to the 19th tenure of Parliament.
President Solih stated that a school multi-media hall will be established along with a football field for the youth within the proceeding year. Other pledges include road development, developing the island’s health center as well as establishing laboratory services.
