President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that huge investments have been made to the police service and so results should be seen.

Speaking at the event on Friday night to celebrate the 86th anniversary of the police service, the President said that the result of their work should be a peaceful community.

Highlighting the poor state of the police service before, President Solih said that the changes his administration has brought is now showing results.

He said that the police service had lost public trust in the previous years by bending to the will of politicians, being involved in acts of corruption, and taking unlawful action but that, in the four months since the new government came to power, the police service has been regaining trust due to their professionalism.

Noting that civil order is based on the trustworthiness of the police, President Solih said that his wish is to see all officers respect and serve completely within legal boundaries, resulting in every member of the public feeling safe and reassured in their presence.

At the event, President Solih presented special awards to police officers who have served for over 25 years.
