The higher education ministry has fulfilled all of its 100-day pledges.
In a press conference on Wednesday, higher education minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan said that they have fulfilled the seven pledges they were tasked with as part of the government’s 100-day agenda.
These pledges are:
- Allow students who win first place in the GCE A Level results to receive an undergraduate scholarship from any university they wish,
- Provide students a free education up to the undergraduate level in the Maldives,
- Provide interest-free loans to students who wish to study abroad and review the loans of students currently studying abroad,
- Revise the high achiever’s scholarship scheme to fit into standards of OECD countries.
- Draft and submit to parliament a bill to Improve the Maldives Qualification Authority and raise the standard of higher education,
- Establish a Bicocca University outpost in the Maldives, and
- Accumulate information on training employees for various sectors and conduct a national training need analysis.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that 83% of their 100-day pledges have been fulfilled.
