Maldives Media Council (MMC) has brought amendments to the guidelines under which Journalism Awards are conferred each year.
MMC’s Vice President Ahmed Azif told the press on Thursday that one of the most important amendments they had brought is the decision on making applicants for the Journalism Awards go through an interview with the judging panel.
They have also amended to make it necessary to submit documents revealing the date on which a certain report or news was broadcasted.
Amendments were brought to all categories but the feature and photography categories.
The council had also brought amendments to the criteria in which marks will be allocated for nominees.
Applicants are also required to submit their work portfolios and curriculum vitae along with their submissions.
Changes were however not brought to the guidelines under which winners for Photography and the most resilient journalist.
The council has opened opportunity for media workers to submit their applications for the awards, until 31st of March.
These awards have been conferred annually since 2014 and there are eight categories under which they are conferred. MMC has been disbursing awards in social category, politics category, legal category, business category, sports category, photo journalism category, video journalism category and feature category.
