The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned Kelaa MP Ali Arif after he accused President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of accepting money embezzled from MMPRC.

ACC stated that it also summoned Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

MP Arif accused President Solih of accepting “32 million” embezzled from MMPRC while he was at an opposition gathering inside Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) last week, when former President Abdulla Yameen was admitted at the cardiology center.

The state has charged opposition leader Yameen with money-laundering over the MMPRC case and has detained him at Maafushi Prison.

At the gathering, MP Arif also accused foreign minister Abdulla Shahid of accepting “the second largest amount” embezzled from MMPRC.

At an opposition coalition press conference, MP Abdul Raheem claimed that he has a list of members of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) who accepted the embezzled money.

SoF had transferred money embezzled from MMPRC to accounts of 155 individuals. After ACC disclosed the names, the government suspended some senior officials including sports minister Ahmed Mahloof and state minister Akram Kamaludeen.
